Consider narcolepsy: The narcolepsy symptoms may include daytime sleep attacks, vivid dreams (hypnagogic hallucinations), cataplexy, and "sleep paralysis". So just to address this possibility, get some genetic testing, and perhaps overnight sleep study, but eeg may suffice.
