The wt gain problem: Avoid excessive/rapid wt gain and minimize long hot shower/bath, minimize use of body washes/scrubbing, use of humidifer in winter/cold season, and minimize use of meds if not needed. Applying moisturing lotion such as aquaphor 2-3x/day, especially after shower/bath--soft skin stretches better. If not adequate, consult doc as u may need prescription meds. Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck.

Zovirax (acyclovir): However systemic or internal treatment is a better choice because the virus is under the skin in the nerve root. Zovirax, Famvir or Valtrex (valacyclovir) are the prescription medications used for treatment of shingles. Oral steroids can help with the swelling and potentially decrease the pain. The vaccine can prevent shingles in people over 50.
