About now: Fever increasing on its third day can be from a bacterial infection. A primary care doctor can evaluate to see what the cause is. If it is an infection with bacteria or mycoplasma germs, antibiotics are prescribed. Some viral infections are treatable with antivirals such as zovirax or tamiflu, (oseltamivir) but many are not. There are also non-infectious causes of fever.
