Prophylaxis : Mosquito repellents, prophylactic meds are very important, please make appt with your pcp to get prescription for meds like lariam, malarone, (atovaquone and proguanil) Doxycycline , etc. Each of the above meds have its pros and cons and your pcp will decide which is best for you based upon your medical condition and what part of the world you are going ( resistance to meds has to be considered).

CDC info: The centers for disease control (cdc) has some great info on malaria protection. Along with mosquito-avoidance (both bug spray and netting), there are medications you should take prior to, during and after your trip.
