When travling to a malaria country what can i take to save me from getting sick?

Prophylaxis : Mosquito repellents, prophylactic meds are very important, please make appt with your pcp to get prescription for meds like lariam, malarone, (atovaquone and proguanil) Doxycycline , etc. Each of the above meds have its pros and cons and your pcp will decide which is best for you based upon your medical condition and what part of the world you are going ( resistance to meds has to be considered).

Be careful: Take with you mosquito repellant, protective cloth and malaria medication.
