Could someone get malaria 60 years after they first got it?

Malaria recurrence: It's possible that one type of malaria could 'come back' years later - that's Plasmodium malariae or P. malariae. There are cases of (veterans usually) who've gone overseas - got sick with malaria, then recovered, then YEARS later have it come back -- usually when some event occurs like a bad pneumonia.
