Find the right MD: Vaginismus is abnormal muscle spasms in the vagina that make intercourse painful or impossible. Don't treat this yourself without having a medical exam to ensure you're otherwise healthy. Tip: interview 2 or 3 gynecologists to find one who won't do a painful exam. (in our office we call this a "meet and greet": a 5-10 minute visit at no charge to see if md and patient are a good fit.).
