Does pain experienced during gynecological examination necessarily necessarily mean vaginismus?

No: While vaginismus is a possibility there are many other possible causes. While they are too numerous to cover in only 400 characters they include: infection (vaginal, cervical, pid, bladder, etc), endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, ovarian cysts, vaginal atrophy, a woman not relaxing or just a rough exam. You should discuss the possible causes with your doctor or seek a 2nd opinion if necessary.
