If it is itchy around the mole it may represent an allergic contact dermatitis. It can also be a skin infection, which is usually warm, swollen, red, and tender. See a dermatologist.

Painful skin is suggestive if inflammation and possibly infection. If it is not improving , a dermatologist can prescribe topical or oral antibiotics. I.
