Yes, infections: With excellent supportive care to prevent and treat infection and spleen removal to prevent bleeding was patients can grow to adulthood. The best hope of long term survival is an early stem cell (cord blood or bone marrow) transplant which would correct the bleeding and infection problems and also decrease the risk of white blood cell cancer which is a problem for them.
