Usually not: Contact lenses may cause irritation and infection but usually not allergic reactions. You can be allergic to the contact lens solution.

Not exactly: The presence of a foreign body, like a contact lens, between your eyeball and your eyelid can trigger a severe irritant reaction called giant follicular conjunctivitis (see photo). It closely resembles an allergic form of conjunctivitis called vernal conjunctivitis. This problem should be brought to the attention of your ophthalmologist. In the meantime, don't wear your contacts.
