No: See your dentist to get evaluated for nocturnal clenching and / or grinding. This is likely the cause. You may benefit from an occlusal guard.

Dr. David May answered

No: Before an occlusal guard or night guard is fabricated for nocturnal clenching or grinding the patient should be questioned about excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring and sleep apnea.

Not normal: Your teeth are not supposed to touch while you're asleep, except instantaneously once a minute to clear your mouth of saliva. Soreness indicates you are clenching/grinding, have a malocclusion, or a systemic problem. Se your Dentist. You might profit fro a night guard and/or referral to an Orthodontist.
