Sure: An optometrist mainly deals with visual acuity, and doesn't do surgery. An ophthalmologist deals more with the sorts of eye emergencies that would not appeal to a "squeamish sort". That said, there would always be the occasional walk-in that you'd have to deal with, as well as basic eye infections. Question is, just how squeamish?
