Risky...: I would always see a doctor with an infected abscessed tooth. Infections can get out of control and be life threatening. Please seek a dentist....

Not recommended: Septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is used to treat ear and urinary tract infections. I would call your dentist . Your dentist will probably prescribe penicillin or Amoxicillin
