Hypercoagulable: Virchow was 1st scientist who made a link b/w thrombogenesis and carcinogenesis. Cancer cells increase inflammation at site of cancer and metastasis and by recruiting platelets and other cells increase the risk, also cause release of tissue factor, sometimes there is direct tumor blocking the lymphatics causing stasis and cancer pts aremore sedentary. Some chemo drugs and port also increase risk.
