Lower cholesterol: Xanthelasma is a small lesion on the eyelid filled with cholesterol. They occur in people with really high cholesterol. This can be from diet or an inherited disorder of cholesterol. The treatment for xanthelasma is to lower your cholesterol, either by diet/exercise or lipid-lowering agents like statins & omega-3 fish oil supplements. Surgery is rarely indicated.
