Not normally.: Dermabrasion removes the superficial layer of the skin to contour, tighten and smooth the dermis. The epidermis will regrow, and the newly added collagen helps to thicken and smooth the skin. If there is a complication like infection, or treatment is taken too deep, then scarring can happen. This is why you want only an experienced hand doing your dermabrasion. Peels and lasers are alternatives.
