A member asked:

Does dermabrasion result in new skin growth? will dermabrasion make me grow new skin, and if so, how will it be better than the skin that is there now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dermabrasion : Dermabrasion is a technique that removes the upper layers of the skin through a variety of techniques. The brush or burr rotates rapidly, taking off and leveling the top layers of the skin. This process injures or wounds the skin and causes it to bleed. As the wound heals, new skin grows to replace the damaged skin that was removed during dermabrasion. Dermabrasion can help with removal of darkly pigmented areas or prior scarring.
