Rabies in wildlife: Yes- rabies is found all over the U.S. in wildlife (except the state of Hawaii). Fortunately human rabies is extremely rare- but the possibility exists for transmission to humans if we are not careful. Keeping pets vaccinated and Respecting wild life is important (Note mammals are the reservoirs for the virus- esp bats and wild carnivores like coyotes). Education is key.
