Possible skin cancer: Any symptomatic growth on the skin that has been present for more than 1-2 months should be evaluated. A skin cancer on the scalp will grow and spread more quickly than other areas of the body. I would not delay, but instead see about having the area examined by your dermatologists.

YES!: In general, painful bumps on the skin should be suspicious for cancer until another explanation is found or a biopsy proves that it is benign.
