Exam.: A pelvic exam includes a pap smear, and palpation of the uterus and ovaries. A blood test can look for anemia, pregnancy, or problems with clotting or hormones. An ultrasound will give more details on the size and shape of the uterus and ovaries. A sonohysterography (us with fluid injection) shows abnormalities of the uterine cavity. An endometrial biopsy samples cells from the uterine lining.
