What is tsh?

Activates thyroid.: Tsh, or thyroid stimulating hormone, is a hormone made in the pituitary gland to control how much thyroid hormone is made and released into the bloodstream. High levels of TSH mean the pituitary thinks the body needs more thyroid hormone(that thyroid levels are too low), and low levels of TSH mean that the pituitary thinks the body needs less thyroid hormone.

A thyroid hormone : Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is what regulates the release of thyroid hormones – a group of chemicals that regulate the body’s metabolism. It is measured as a lab test to help diagnose thyroid disorders. A high TSH result may mean an underactive thyroid; a low TSH result could suggest an overactive thyroid.
