Anti-inflammatories: Hiccups in this situation are often caused by irritation of the diaphragm caused by an inflammatory process related to the heart attack. Anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or Naproxen can be helpful. There are also other drugs which might help, but can be very sedating and should be overseen by a physician.
