A member asked:

I just started taking b12 and im ttc. is this ok for me and possible baby or could it harm the ability of conceoving?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It appears safe: Taking vitamin B12 appears safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and to my knowledge does not interfere with conception. Because these things are generally not specifically studied in pregnancy, though, it is hard to be 100% sure. A good general approach is to avoid unneeded medications and supplements except for folate (folic acid) supplements, which reduce the risk of some birth defects in future babies.
