A member asked:

My husband and i are ttc baby #2. why would i get a "peak" reading on an opk for multiple days (4-5 days)? does it make a difference that i am nursing my 1 year old daughter still and have not yet had a menstrual cycle since before conceiving her?

Likely not ovulating: The prolonged positive OPK typically means a high/prolonged LH surge which can be a problem when TTC. The fact that you are still nursing and have had no menstrual cycle cycle, along with OPK issue, suggests that you may not be ovulating. This is common during nursing, although many patients do begin ovulating again and begin having menstrual cycles again even while still nursing.

Short answer is: Yes: Not having a normal period is likely due to continued nursing and I praise you for that. My advise is to take your time. conception may happen even before you experience a normal period.
