Long term treatment: Blepharitis can be a very chronic condition for many people, and in some it seems to never fully resolve. There are some medications that are used chronically for the condition in addition to eyelid cleaning and warm compresses. It the medication contains certain steroids, there may be risk of increased eye pressure and cataract with long term chronic use. Some steroids are relatively safe.

It depends: This is a complex disease entity. Sometimes it can come back intermitantly or just be chronic. All medications can have side effects even if only used for several weeks.I have many patients who use med sfor this for one plus years, but they are monitored for silent side effects. You need to discuss this with your doctor and keep the agreed appointments.
