So being i got my first u/s at 9wks 6dys, edd of 01/22/13; i count back 40wks from that to get an estimate of my lmp? right?! or is 9wks u/s too late?

No, no, and no: If one has an u/s that says 9weeks 6days pregnant, then just count backwards 9weeks 6days from the day of the u/s, to get the LMP estimate. A 9week 6day u/s is pretty good at setting the pregnancy-related dates.
