Chiari malformation: The definition for chiari malformation is the presence of cerbellar ectopia of greater than 3 mm below the foramen magnum. Thus you fulfill at least part of the criteria for chiari 1 malformation. The key is the presence of symptoms. If present, then phase-contrast mr flow studieshave a role in determining whether symptomatic chairi malformation patients may benefit from surgical intervention.
