Just get to DDS: There is not much that you can do on your own. You can take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache for any discomfort. You need to see a dentist asap as untreated infections can spread to other parts of your body and cause serious complications. Do not take this lightly and instead make it a priority or you might be sorry.

Emergency care: An abscess is an infection. It will not get better until the source of the infection is treated. If you can't get to your dentist, you might want to consider a hospital emergency room.

Go to physician: If it is draining then that is a good thing. Because the infection in not staying in the body. Use warm salt water, and go to the hospital emergency room to get antibiotics or to your physician.
