Gout: This is a crystalline deposition disease which is diagnosed with negative birefringent needle like crystals seen with polarized light. Serum uric acid levels may or may not be elevated. It affects many joints, includes swelling, pain, sensitivity, and erythema. Usually treat with uricosurics like Allopurinol maintenance or Colchicine for acute flares.

Gout: Is a disease caused by the over production or under excretion of uric acid the uric acid forms crystals in blood that can be deposited in a joint. The cooler the location( farther from heart: such as feet) , the more likely this may occur in a joint there. Can be treated and controlled with medication and diet.
