Bipolar Disorder: Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder where one has both depressive episodes and episodes of mania or hypomania. These may occur in succession, or not. Sometimes it's discovered when you're treated for depression, but the antidepressant causes mania: high energy, agitation, sleeplessness, rapid thinking & speech, etc. See a psychiatrist for evaluation & treatment. Mood stabilizers help.
