Average: A good rule of thumb is that no one anti-depressant is any "better" at treating depression than another. Anti-depressants, in general, are slightly better than placebo (a sugar pill). Manage side effects. Anti-depressants are generally not effective in bipolar depression and can actually put you at risk for mania. If you have been on a lot of meds and nothing helps, try ECT or TMS.

Levomilnacipran: in my best opinion it is an excellent medication for depression, especially those that suffer from anergy and poor cognition. people usually have side effects the first few weeks of treatment but they resolve or lessen with time. common side effects reported to me: dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, feeling restless or edgy and decreased appetite.
