Apthous Ulcer?: If it is in soft tissue on the roof of your mouth, it is most likely an apthous ulcer. If it is located in the hard tissue on the roof of your mouth, it is likely a trauma due to hot cheese or it could be a viral infection. If you are in doubt, get it checked out by your dentist.

No: Cancer sores only happen on the mucosa, not the hard gum tissue that is on the roof of the mouth. It may be an ulcer or cancer. See a dentist asap.

What you believe?: Canker sores do not generally form on the palate. As a matter of fact in over 40 years of practice i've not personally seen one there. You most likely do not have a canker sore\aphthous ulcer. What to do? See a dentist for a definitive diagnosis and then some guidance.

See your dentist: is very common after tooth extraction. Canker sores are the most common oral lesions. Individual ulcers typically last 1-2 weeks. The condition is idiopathic (cause is not known) recurrent aphthous ulcers is usually self-limiting. If concerned see your dentist after 10 days for evaluation.
