Musculoskeletal..,: This pain is probably related to a musculoskeletal pain. Possibilities include cartilage inflammation, muscle strain, rib bruise or even rib fracture. The pain should resolve once the cough resolves. If the pain is present without coughing or sneezing, or is worsening, see your doctor. If the cough persists after the cold resolves, see your doctor.
