Zyprexa (olanzapine): An atypical antipsychotic approved by fda for tx of schizophrenia & bipolar disorders. It is structurally similar to Clozapine but classified as thienobenzodiazepine. It is manufactured by eli lilly co. May cause involuntary movements, akathisia, fatigue, red eyes, dry mouth, anhedonia, dizziness, weight gain, seizures, metabolic changes such as diabetes.

Antipsychotic: Now available as a generic, olanzapine, it has been available for 15-20 years. A very effective sedative as well help to alleviate hallucinations and paranoia. It also has been combined with fluoxetine as a potent antidepressant. Also, mood stabilizing unfortunately, it often causes weight gain, tiredness, and metabolic syndrome - elevated lipids (trigyceride & cholesterol) and diabetes.
