Simvastatin + Zetia (ezetimibe): Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combination medication containing simvastatin, a statin drug that inhibits cholesterol synthesis, and zetia, a blocker of cholesterol absorption in the gut. Together these agents increase production of LDL receptors that work to clear LDL particles from the circulation.

Two meds in one pill: Brand name: Zetia (generic name: ezetimibe) 10 mg, combined with brand name: zocor (generic name) simvastatin, either 10, 20, 40 or 80 mg, into one pill. Thus vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) 10/10, 10/20, 10/40, 10/80 mg tabs, which is a brand name sold exclusively by merck pharmaceuticals. It can work well to lower LDL particles for some, especially the 10/80 (same cost as others) & taken ¼ or ½ tablet daily in the pm.
