Zetia (ezetimibe) and Simvastati: Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is Simvastatin and zetia. They both work together to lower cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol. Zetia works by inhibiting absorption of cholesterol by the small intestine. Simvastatin works by blocking some of the production of cholesterol by your body.

Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combo: Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combination of zocor (simvastarin) and Zetia (ezetimibe). Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) may give you better cholesterol numbers but there is no evidence of better cardiovascular outcomes. Zocor, having a generic equivalent will save some money.
