Zetia (ezetimibe) and Simvastati: Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is Simvastatin and zetia. They both work together to lower cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol. Zetia works by inhibiting absorption of cholesterol by the small intestine. Simvastatin works by blocking some of the production of cholesterol by your body.

Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combo: Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combination of zocor (simvastarin) and Zetia (ezetimibe). Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) may give you better cholesterol numbers but there is no evidence of better cardiovascular outcomes. Zocor, having a generic equivalent will save some money.

Vytorin contains statin med believed to cause more problems w muscle breakdown (poss danger) than Lipitor (atorvastatin). So Simva only used at 10-20mgs daily. Zetia lowers cholest, but not clear if decrease atherosclerosis. I think atorvastatin better choice & I own no stock. 20mgs of simva approx effective as 10mgs atorva. Supplement CoQ10 100mg/daily helps prevent muscle pain assoc w statin.

Should you take vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) in the morning?

Bedtime is better: Bedtime is better but taking it regularly is more important. So if you are going to miss doses to take it at bedtime, taking it in the morning is better than missing doses. However, you will get a more robust response from taking it at bedtime.
