Hyperlipidemia Med: Gemfibrozil is used with diet changes (restriction of cholesterol and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides (other fatty substances).

Gemfibrozil: Gemfibrozil is the generic name for an oral drug used to lower lipid levels. It belongs to a group of drugs known as fibrates. It is most commonly sold as the brand name, lopid (gemfibrozil).

Gemfibrozil: Lopid (Gemfibrozil) is used in conjunction with a healthy diet to lower blood trigylceride & cholesterol levels. It decreases low density lipoproteins & increases high density lipoproteins in the blood. It is considered a lipid regulator.
