Stimulant medication: Amphetamines are used for treatment of adhd and improves attention, concentration, hyperactivity and impulsivity. It can be used to treat depression in elderly. It's also abused as 'speed' with devastating consequences. Side effects; decrease appetite, weight loss, sleep disturbance, neurological tics or twitches. Short acting preparation lasts few hours in body and long acting lasts 10 hours.

Stimulants: Amphetamines are drugs which are structurally similar to the naturally occurring stimulants that our bodies make - epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine. Synthetic amphetamines, especially substituted ones like methamphetamine and mdma (extacy) are far more potent, can cause major and psychiatric reactions, including heart attack, stroke and psychosis. Methamphetamine is especially toxic.
