Control: Once a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus is established the best anyone can do is control it. The diagnosis doesn't go away but with lifestyle change, some may be able to come off medication for a time. Diabetes is a chronic condition. Patients may eventually become Insulin dependent.

Controlled!!..but: Not cured as it is a strongly geneticdisease, and no therapy gets rid of genes that put you at risk but diet, exercise, appropriate meds can control it!
