Need more time: The medicine may not have had enough time to work yet. Use topical numbing medicines such as chloraseptic and take otc pain medicine. If not better by next week and no allergy, Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) would by good.

Culture done?: Was an actual throat culture done? If so and the zpac is not effective than they need to change to a different antibiotic. If no culture, you might have a viral infection which will not be affected by antibiotics.
