Eye pain: Unfortunately, pain medications do not work very well for eye pain. It is more important to get a diagnosis and treat the underlying problem. Most treatments for conditions that cause eye pain also reduce the pain. Topical anesthetics should not be used because they are toxic to the cornea when overused and can delay healing. Non-steroidal oral meds can reduce inflammation and decrease pain.
