5% permethrin: Scabies is treated with a topical scabicide such as 5% permethrin. It is applied over the entire body from the chin to the toes and left on for 8 to 14 hours before washing off. The treatment is repeated 1 week later. After your first Permethrin treatment is completed you can try some calamine lotion and some solarcaine to the areas that itch the most for symptomatic relief.

Prescription: Prescription medicated creams are used for treating the scabies. The most commonly used cream is Permethrin 5%. Cream must be applied all over the body even if they don't have symptoms sometimes all individuals that were in contact with the infected individual needed to be treated. Cream is applied as a one-time treatment or it may be repeated in a week. For severely infected cases, some dermatologists may also prescribe Ivermectin oral medication. Itching may continue for 2 to 4 weeks after treatment begins, but it will usually disappear if you follow your dermatologist's treatment plan. This condition should not be taken lightly and is highly contagious so i advise you go see a dermatologist.
