Control measures: Are available, but at age 60 some of our meds are risky. If hypertension or heart disease is present, would avoid triptans, and perhaps select dolovent (otc) to stop the headache. To prevent, which i would prefer, could use prescription (topirimate, depakote) or otc (riboflavin, butterbur, feverfew, co-q10). See a headache specialist and start appropriate meds.
