Yes and no: Demyelination refers to damage to a nerve that causes the myelin sheaths (which help conduct electricity faster along nerves) to either shrink or go away entirely, thus affecting the overall ability of the nerve to move signals along its length. Compartment syndrome refers to an acute condition of increased pressure in a confined space, normally the forearm or lower leg. It can injure nerves.
