Bone loss: Bone resorption usually refers to bone mineral reduction because cellular components osteoclasts remove calcium from bones into blood. Bone resorption exceeds formation in older patients due to hormonal imbalance, lack of exercise, and possibly nutrition and vit. D deficiency. Hyperparathyroidism sometimes related to renal disease, chronic inflammation, disuse and immobilization can contribute.
