Make it fun: Sing a song he or she likes while you help brush. Let them read a book while lying on the floor. Incorporate something fun into the routine, but remember that you need to help your 2 year old brush. After, have him or her show you how they do it on their own.

Patience: 2 year olds may be scared of brushing, but it must be learned. Patience and persistance will carry the day. Start slow, make it a "game" brush the lips first for a "tickle", then move on to the front teeth, and slowly have the molars included in the "game". Do not let your frustration be seen by them. Slow but sure wins the race.
