Compression fracture: 6 weeks to 3 months usually. I usually brace patients with minor/ nonsurgical fractures. If back pain is debilitating patients may be a candidate for a kyphoplasty (cementing) procedure. If the fracture is severe enough to cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the legs or bowel/bladder symptoms, this is a surgical problem. Seek follow up with a spine surgeon.
