Pain: Normally the first sign of a bed sore is pain, but this is only true if the person has normal sensation. The first visual sign is redness that does not blanch with pressure. When presenting late, sometime the first sign noticed is an open wound. It is common for pressure sores to get worse for several weeks after diagnosis, as the injury is worse deeper, and makes its way to the surface.
