Make more br. milk?: If a normal 4 month-old baby is hungry soon after breastfeeding, mom can breastfeed again, so that her milk supply will increase to match the baby's needs. If mom's milk doesn't increase, she can use formula. Solid foods are started at 6 months, but if mom really wants to try solids sooner, rice cereal can be tried at 4 months. If the baby eats cereal fine and poops don't harden, he should be ok.

Why do you assume ?: The average 4 month old is quite able to put fingers or fist in mouth to satisfy their need to stimulate the pleasure nerves in their lips. Why assume baby is not satisfied with a meal just because they suck on things quite vigerously. If your baby is wetting diapers every 4 hours and growing along a normal pattern, they do not need a bigger feed or solids.

Sometimes yes: Most pediatricians begin solids, like infant cereal, and soft baby foods like fruits and vegetable, at 4 to 6 months, but this varies a lot. You should discuss this with your baby's care-giver at the 4-month check-up.
