Bone Scans: A bone scan won't tell you specifically what is going on by itself. A bone scan shows areas of inflammation in the body. When used in conjunction with other information, a diagnosis can be made.

Not exactly...: A bone scan will be "hot" when there is inflammation in the area. An MRI will be more detailed, but plain good old x-rays may tell enough of the story. See your doctor for diagnosis.

Possibly: The bone scan is achieved with intravenous dose of tracer tech 99m mdp which shows alteration in metabolism of bone. A normal bone scan usually means there is no active process in bone, if bone scan shows abnormal uptake, this could be commonly related to trauma, tumor, or infection. Correlation with mr imaging could give more specific answer.
